"I am civil protection too" school camps: 2023 edition
More than 270 camps throughout Italy and more than 7 thousand youths participating in the initiative
Raise children's awareness of the active role that everyone can play, starting with small daily mindful actions, for the protection of the environment, the territory and the community. This is the goal of the "I'm the Civil Protection Too" school camps, organized by the Civil Protection Department, in collaboration with the regions and national and local volunteer organizations. Since the first edition in 2007, it has involved and trained more than forty thousand youths between the ages of 10 and 16.
"I am civil protection too" identifies primary, secondary and junior high school students as its target audience.
In this 2023 edition, between June and September, more than 270 school camps across the country will welcome 7,000 youths between the ages of 10 and 16 who will be confronted with those who do civil protection on a daily basis: Fire Department, State Forestry Corps, Police Forces,118, Italian Red Cross, representatives of municipalities, regions and many other actors of the National Civil Protection Service.
Fun and training are the keywords of the school camps, which offer young participants many fun activities and a full educational program focused on learning the civil protection system and, especially, municipal emergency plans and the territory.
Among the project's educational objectives: to encourage the protection of the forest and natural resources; to contribute to the prevention of risks also through the spread of good civil protection practices; promote knowledge of the National Service's tasks; and to raise awareness of emergency plans to encourage dialogue with local administrations.
